Introduction
Some songs come from life experiences. Some come from deep emotions. And then there are the songs that arrive because Facebook decides to throw something completely ridiculous into your news feed.
That is exactly how "Money Grow" was born. One day a cartoon meme popped up on my Facebook feed showing a bloke wanting a hundred dollar bill tattooed on a very private part of his anatomy. When the tattoo artist asked why, his answer was simple: he liked to play with his money and watch it grow.
The moment I saw it, I laughed and immediately thought, "That would make a great song." A few minutes later, the ideas were already flowing, and before long I had turned a silly internet joke into one of the cheekiest tracks I've ever written.
The Story Behind "Money Grow"
The original version of this song was written around a fun Latin groove and a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour. Inspired by a Facebook meme that made me laugh out loud, the idea quickly evolved into a cheeky story about a man who finds an unusual way to entertain himself while watching his "investment" grow. The joke was ridiculous, the concept was outrageous and that was exactly why I knew it would make a great comedy song.
The Music and Vibe
Musically, "Money Grow" is built around an upbeat Latin rhythm designed to get people moving from the first beat. The track combines playful lyrics, catchy melodies and a danceable groove that never takes itself too seriously. It has the feel of a late night party where everyone is laughing, singing along and enjoying the joke.
While the lyrics are packed with double meanings and outrageous humour, the real star of the song is the infectious rhythm. The Latin inspired arrangement gives the track a light hearted energy that perfectly complements the comedy running through the lyrics.
The success of the original concept later inspired me to revisit the song and create a completely different blues rock version titled "Money Honey." While both songs share the same mischievous origin, each has its own unique personality and musical style.
Money Grow by Chuck A Beat Lyrics
Verse 1
I got a hundred dollar bill tattooed to my ding a ling,
Just for thrills, yeah it gives me a little zing.
When I'm alone, I don't need no show,
I strum my banjo and watch the green grow.
Pre Chorus
Late night jam with my right hand band,
No shame, no blame, it's all well planned.
Ain't no crime in lovin' me time,
When the lights go low, I shine!
Chorus
Come on girl, blow, blow, blow, watch it grow, grow, grow,
Playing with Benjamin makes it feel genuine,
Such a fine specimen, revvin' up my engine,
Squirting out the venom 'til my snake runs dry,
Oh my, my, my!
Verse 2
I've named him Richie Rich and he's got his own stash,
Every time I tug, I'm rakin' in cash.
Got lotion in motion and a towel on standby,
Call it solo poker, and I never lose, oh my!
Pre Chorus
Put a sock on the door, got the lights down low,
It's a one man show, let the rhythm flow.
Netflix paused, phone on mute,
Doin' financial yoga in my birthday suit!
Chorus
Come on girl, blow, blow, blow, watch it grow, grow, grow,
Playing with Benjamin makes it feel genuine,
Such a fine specimen, revvin' up my engine,
Squirting out the venom 'til my snake runs dry,
Oh my, my, my!
Bridge
Mama told me, "Boy, you'll go blind!"
But I see just fine when I unwind.
Doctor said, "That's a strange tattoo,"
But he winked and whispered, "I got one too."
Breakdown
You think crypto's hot?
Try investing in... wrist stock.
Self made, self paid,
Wall Street in my pants, self trade!
Chorus
Blow, blow, blow, watch it grow, grow, grow,
Playing with Benjamin makes it feel genuine,
Such a fine specimen, revvin' up my engine,
Squirting out the venom 'til my snake runs dry,
What a high, high, high!
Outro
Yeah, I don't need no OnlyFans,
Just me, my hand, and a hundred grand.
Tattooed cash and a cheeky grin,
That's how I win with a little skin spin.
