"Love You Mon Chéri" started with a simple thought while I was lying in bed one night. It occurred to me that there hadn't been a major international French love song crossing over into the English-speaking world for decades. Since I speak some French, I thought it would be fun to try writing a bilingual love song that blended both languages naturally. By the time I got out of bed the next morning, or more accurately, the next afternoon, the lyrics were already flowing through my head. Sometimes songs take weeks to develop, but this one seemed determined to write itself.

"Love You Mon Chéri" celebrates simple, uncomplicated love. By combining English and French lyrics, the song captures the romance and elegance often associated with the French language while keeping the message universal and easy to connect with. At its heart, the song is about finding someone who is not only your lover but also your closest friend, the person who stays beside you through every twist and turn that life throws your way.

Because bilingual love songs can easily become cheesy if they're not handled carefully, I spent considerable time searching through my usual music sources and auditioning different singers before finding the right voice. I wanted the performance to feel romantic, sincere, and believable rather than sounding like a cliché love song. Once I found the right vocal approach, everything clicked into place and the song became exactly what I'd imagined when I first wrote it.
