The Story Behind "Game Warriors"
"Game Warriors" wasn't written by someone who'd just discovered gaming and thought it might make a catchy song. Oh no. This one comes from fourteen years of living and breathing computers, gaming technology, custom-built gaming rigs and the wonderful madness of the gaming community.
Before becoming the songwriter behind Chuck A Beat and Odin's Roar, I ran my own computer business for fourteen years. I spent those years dealing with gamers, building custom gaming computers, understanding the hardware they needed and watching gaming technology evolve. From graphics cards and processors to powerful machines built specifically for gaming, I knew exactly what went into creating a system capable of handling the latest games.
And if there's one thing you learn when you spend that much time around gamers, it's that gaming isn't just about sitting in front of a screen pressing buttons. There's strategy, competition, teamwork, rivalries, adrenaline and the determination to beat whatever challenge comes next.
I dealt with gamers every day. I understood their enthusiasm, their frustrations, their obsession with performance and their determination to squeeze every last bit of power out of their machines. Some wanted the ultimate gaming rig, others wanted upgrades to keep up with the latest releases, and everyone wanted their computer to perform when the action got serious.
So when I decided to write "Game Warriors," I wasn't starting from scratch. I already had years of experience and a head full of gaming knowledge to draw from.
But there's another little twist to this story.
Back when I was running my computer business, I had an idea for something called Xyqon, the Gaming Religion.
Yes, you read that correctly. A bloody gaming religion!
The concept came from recognising just how passionate and dedicated gamers were becoming. Gaming was already much more than a casual hobby for millions of people. It had its own communities, language, culture, rivalries and devoted followers. I could see the potential for something built around that shared passion.
Unfortunately, between running a business, raising a family and dealing with everyday responsibilities, there simply weren't enough hours in the day to bring Xyqon to life.
The idea remained one of those creative concepts I never had the opportunity to develop.
Fast-forward to 2026, and here I am writing music instead of building computers. But apparently, you can take the woman out of the computer business without taking the bloody gamer out of her!
That's how "Game Warriors" came about.
I wanted to write something that captured the competitive spirit of gaming. Not just one particular game, but the entire experience of entering a virtual world, choosing your opponent, building your team, preparing for battle and refusing to give up when things go wrong.
The opening lines introduce two players preparing to face each other:
"C'mon man… let's battle. Your screen name's Warrior, mine is Jackal."
Straight away, we're in the middle of a challenge. Two gamers, two identities and one very simple objective: win the bloody battle!
From there, the lyrics move through different gaming environments, armies, shields, weapons, snipers, tanks, clans and the familiar countdown before combat begins.
I deliberately mixed modern gaming language with the imagery of ancient warriors. One minute we're talking about joysticks, platforms and digital opponents, and the next we're grabbing swords, raising shields and striking like Thor.
Why? Because this is Odin's Roar, for fuck's sake! We weren't going to leave the Vikings sitting on the sidelines while everyone else had all the fun.
The chorus sums up the attitude perfectly:
"Game on, game on, till the final life is gone."
And then comes my favourite part of the whole gaming mentality:
"Game over? Fuck that… press START again."
Because that's exactly what gamers do. You lose a round, learn from it, get back into the game and have another crack.
The song also references Minecraft and Counter-Strike, two very different gaming experiences that reflect the enormous variety of worlds gamers explore. Whether you're building, surviving, strategising or battling opponents, there's always another challenge waiting.
At its heart, "Game Warriors" is my tribute to the gaming community, inspired by fourteen years in the computer industry, the gamers I worked with and a long-forgotten idea called Xyqon.
And now, instead of building the gaming rigs, I'm building the bloody soundtrack for them!
The Music and Vibe
Musically, I wanted "Game Warriors" to hit with the same force as the action happening on the screen.
This wasn't going to be a gentle little background tune to play while someone quietly wandered around collecting resources. I wanted a full-blown, high-energy gaming anthem that could sit comfortably alongside an epic battle, an intense multiplayer match or a cinematic gaming sequence.
The musical direction combines powerful rock, electronic dance music and Viking-inspired cinematic energy.
Heavy, thumping drums drive the track forward, while deep bass gives it that physical impact you want from a gaming soundtrack. The rock elements bring aggression and attitude, and the EDM influences add electronic intensity, momentum and a modern gaming atmosphere.
There's a deliberate contrast between the ancient warrior imagery and the futuristic electronic production. Swords and shields meet digital worlds, while Viking-inspired musical elements collide with modern rock and EDM.
The male lead vocal needed to sound confident, powerful and ready for battle. Not a frightened warrior wondering whether he might survive, but a bloke who's already decided he's going to win.
The verses carry the competitive storytelling, while the pre-chorus builds anticipation around that familiar moment every gamer knows: the countdown.
"Three… two… one… knocked you out, you're done."
Then the chorus explodes into the main hook, with the repeated "Game on, game on" giving the song its battle-cry energy.
I also wanted the music to feel cinematic rather than simply repetitive. The arrangement needed to suggest different stages of a gaming adventure, from preparing for battle to entering new worlds, fighting enemies, winning trophies and starting all over again.
The official music video takes that concept further, combining the perspective of a gamer at his computer with spectacular virtual arenas, futuristic battles, Viking warriors and enormous science-fiction combat environments.
The idea is simple: the gamer chooses the world, enters the battle and becomes part of the action.
And just when you think the adventure is finished, there's always another opponent waiting.
"Game Warriors" isn't tied to one gaming genre or one generation of gamers. It's about the excitement of competition, the thrill of victory and the stubborn determination to keep playing.
Whether you're a lifelong gamer, an esports enthusiast, a fan of cinematic gaming soundtracks or simply someone who enjoys thunderous rock music with a massive electronic beat, this song was written to get your adrenaline pumping.
So crank up the volume, grab your controller, choose your battlefield and prepare for impact.
Game over? Fuck that… press START again!
Game Warriors by Odin's Roar Lyrics
Verse 1
C'mon man… let's battle
Your screen name's Warrior, mine is Jackal
Load me in, I'm ready to fight
You bring the army, I'll bring the might
From platform to platform we roam through
Hunt for a worthy player, battle him and his crew
Iron grip on my joystick, brace for impact ahead
Drop me in anywhere, I'm the one you DREAD…
Hey… hey… hey…
Pre-Chorus
Shield's on, guns drawn and ready to go
One wrong move and you get buried in the snow
No backing out when the countdown's begun
Three… two… one… knocked you out, you're done
Chorus
Game on, game on
Till the final life is gone
Raise your shield, grab your sword
Fight like thunder, strike like Thor
Game on, game on
We keep fighting till we despawn
Lose one round, come back and defend
Game over? Fuck that… press START again
Press start again
Hey… hey… hey…
Verse 2
Digital warrior, battle line king
You never know what the next match brings
Sniper on the rooftop, tank down below
Hear that battle horn? It's time to go
Build your clan and call your crew
I've got mine, now where are you?
One world ends, another begins
I keep score of all my wins…
We fight, fight, fight…
Bridge
We pick up trophies along the way
Then we live to fight another day
From Minecraft to Counter-Strike
I've played 'em all, earned my battle stripes
Still playin', still fightin' deep into the night…
Pre-Chorus
Shield's on, guns drawn and ready to go
One wrong move and you get buried in the snow
No backing out when the countdown's begun
Three… two… one… knocked you out, you're done
Chorus
Game on, game on
Till the final life is gone
Raise your shield, grab your sword
Fight like thunder, strike like Thor
Game on, game on
We keep fighting till we despawn
Lose one round, come back and defend
Game over? Fuck that… press START again
Press start again
Outro
Yeah man… I'm back…
