“Drunk Love” is Chuck A Beat’s cheeky yet gut-honest rock-country track — a fiery goodbye letter to the bottle-soaked nights that pushed love too far.
The True Story Behind "Drunk Love"
I wrote this song for my ex-boyfriend. He was never physically violent, but when he was drunk, I felt trapped — emotionally cornered, exhausted, and powerless. Every time he’d stumble in demanding intimacy, I’d reject him, but he wouldn’t stop. Some nights I ended up sleeping on the floor of my shop, wrapped in bubble-wrap just to get peace. That’s not love — that’s survival.
When he stuck to one bottle of whiskey a night, he was a happy, funny drunk — and I actually wrote another song about that side of him later. But when the whiskey ran out, he’d turn ugly. He’d drink anything in sight — brandy, beer, whatever he could find — and even wander to the neighbour’s house for weed. I couldn’t stand the smell or the haze, and I refused to breathe it in. When I first showed this song to my son, he said having whiskey, brandy, beer, and weed all in one chorus didn’t sound right — but I trusted my gut, kept it exactly how I envisioned it, and the rest is history.
One night, I’d finally had enough. I packed my bags and left. That decision became this song — a rebellious mix of pain, humor, and liberation. It’s a confession, but also a celebration of leaving a toxic situation with your self-respect still intact.
The Intent
“Drunk Love” is for anyone who’s ever been drained by a partner’s addiction — when the laughter turns to pleading, and romance to routine. I wanted to show that abuse isn’t always bruises; sometimes it’s sleepless nights, pressure, and emotional exhaustion. This song empowers people, especially women, to say, “No more. I deserve better.”
The Music & Message
The sound carries that country swagger with a bittersweet twist — bluesy guitar riffs, a whiskey-warm groove, and lyrics that hit like a shot of truth. It’s humorous on the surface, but every line cuts deep for anyone who’s ever lived with a drunk and watched love drown in a glass.
Finding the right vocalist wasn’t easy. The first singer I hired had talent but the studio engineer said her takes had bleed and wouldn’t work for a clean master. I paid her fairly, thanked her, and moved on. Then came Jasmin — her voice had the tone, control, and emotion I’d been searching for. She delivered the song exactly how I’d always heard it in my head. This was the second song I ever wrote but it took a long time to release it cause of the singer issue.

Drunk Love by Chuck A Beat Lyrics
[Intro]
Sweet talker, Johnny Walker,
Huffin, puffin, bluffin’ your way into my life
Thought you were a treat, my sweet muffin
Turns out you were nothin’ but a worn-out lie
[Verse 1]
You take a sip, then give me lip
Try to grope me, I say no, no, no
But you go on and on and on
Like a broken song
[Chorus]
Cause whiskey makes you frisky
Brandy makes you randy
Mary Jane just drives you insane
And beer makes you smear my good name
[Bridge]
Oh baby, I’m done playin’ your drinking game
[Verse 2]
We can go head to head
So quit, boy, while you’re ahead
Give it up, stop the crap,
It’s a wrap in the sack, yeah that’s a fact
You gotta sit to pee
Cause you’re weak at the knees
You’ve fallen, you’re broken
Now I sleep with one eye open
I’m so damn heartbroken
[Chorus]
Cause whiskey makes you frisky
Brandy makes you randy
Mary Jane just drives you insane
And beer makes you smear my good name
[Bridge]
No more lies, no more shame,
Scotchy it’s the end of this game
[Chorus]
Sweet talker, Johnny Walker
You’re outta my life for good
I hope you understood that
Once and for goo
