The True Story Behind "Bully"

“Bully” began in January 2025, when most of the verses and chorus were already written, but something just wouldn’t click. Then in late February, after I put up a post on Facebook musician pages looking for bandmates and singers, it all exploded — not in applause, but in abuse.

Half a dozen online trolls piled on, calling me too old, delusional, and a joke for even thinking I could make it in the music industry. They thought they were breaking me down — but that same night, they gave me the ending I’d been waiting for. I finished the song.

And here’s the punchline: I also found the people I’d been looking for. So who’s blushing now? I received multiple demos from various singers for this song but none of them could express it the way I wanted until June 2025, when I finally found the right vocalist — and bonus, he’s also a fab guitarist. He laid down the guitar parts, and his friend Shane (who doesn’t want his last name known) added the drums.

The Intent

“Bully” was written for every person who’s ever been laughed at for daring to try. It’s a loud, unapologetic anthem for the underdogs — the ones who turn rejection into rocket fuel.

At its heart lies an old Greek saying my grandfather used to tell me when I was a kid:

“The tongue is boneless, but it crushes bones.”

That line became the heartbeat of the chorus — a reminder that words can wound deeper than fists, but also that you can rise above them, stronger than ever. This song turns those words back around, proving that the voice they tried to silence now echoes louder than their hate.

You’re not just roaring back at the trolls — you’re holding up a mirror and saying, “I see you. I know you’re broken too. But you don’t have to stay that way.” So I offer them redemption:
