“Born to Buzz” is a high-energy rock tribute inspired by my lifelong obsession with Bruce Springsteen and the unforgettable culture surrounding his fans. The song was born completely by accident one day in mid-2025 after I saw a meme posted in a Bruce Springsteen Facebook fan group asking, “Any Bruce Springsteen fans around…?” Without even thinking, I instantly typed back, “Fuck yeah, and we’ve never left, you clown.” Before I hit enter, I stopped and realised the line sounded like the opening of a rock song. Within minutes, lyrics started pouring out and “Born to Buzz” was suddenly alive.

The Story Behind "Born to Buzz"

Bruce Springsteen’s music has been part of my life for years, and I wanted this song to capture the feeling of being one of those fans who never truly leaves the music behind. I’ve been lucky enough to see Bruce live twice, once at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne in 1997 and again at Earls Court in London in 1999. Those concerts stayed with me forever. His songs became soundtracks for road trips, heartbreaks, friendships, late-night drives, concerts, and unforgettable memories. I wrote “Born to Buzz” as both a celebration and a playful love letter to the fans, the stories, the concerts, and the electric feeling that still hits when the Boss takes the stage.

The Music and Vibe

Driven by punchy guitars, crowd-style choruses, classic rock energy, and Springsteen-inspired storytelling, “Born to Buzz” blends nostalgia with pure live-concert adrenaline. The track was designed to feel like standing in a packed arena with thousands of fans singing every word back at the stage while the night refuses to end.

One of the biggest challenges with this song was finding the right singer. Even though I approached several rock vocalists I had worked with previously, none of them wanted to touch the track because it references so many Bruce Springsteen song titles. What many people don't realise is that song titles themselves are not protected in the same way as lyrics, and throughout “Born to Buzz” I wasn't simply throwing titles around for the sake of it. As a lifelong fan of the Boss, I used those titles to help tell a story and take listeners on a journey through the music, memories, concerts, and emotions that Springsteen's catalogue has inspired over the years.

After searching high and low, I eventually found Jaxson Harlow, who was temporarily performing in a cover band at the time. He wasn't from Australia, but that never mattered to me. All I cared about was finding someone with the vocal grit, power, and rock-and-roll attitude to deliver the song the way I heard it in my head. The moment I heard Jaxson sing, I knew I had found the right voice. His raw delivery, energy, and unmistakable rock vocals brought exactly the kind of passion and authenticity this track demanded.
