“Ba-Dum” was written after one of my singers, Ennet Judd, told me that Kylie Minogue’s “Padam Padam” had won a Grammy and said she thought my dance track “Heeey Baby” was catchier. I laughed and told her I didn’t even think “Padam Padam” was that catchy, so she challenged me to write something better and more infectious. Challenge accepted. A short time later, “Ba-Dum” was born.

The Story Behind "Ba-Dum"

The idea behind the song was simple, write something hypnotic, playful, sexy, and impossible to get out of your head. I wanted a chorus that looped like a heartbeat inside your brain, something people would find themselves singing hours later without even realising it. The “Ba-Dum” hook became the centrepiece, building around rhythm, repetition, energy, and pure dancefloor chemistry.

The Music and Vibe

Built around pulsing dance beats, seductive vocals, and an addictive rhythmic flow, “Ba-Dum” blends modern dance-pop with hypnotic club energy. The track is playful, flirty, and designed for movement, late-night dancefloors, summer parties, and moments where the music completely takes over. With its repeating heartbeat-style hook and infectious chorus, the song was created to stay stuck in your head long after the music stops.

Finding the right singer for this track was just as important as writing the hook itself. I discovered Tatiana Gayan through word of mouth after hearing about her and her sister, both experienced performers who sing in cover bands. Between them, they have recorded multiple songs for Chuck A Beat over the years. “Ba-Dum” needed a vocalist who could deliver confidence, attitude, playfulness, and just the right amount of flirtation without sounding forced. The moment I heard Tatiana's voice, I knew she had exactly the energy the song demanded. Her performance brought the heartbeat hook to life and helped turn “Ba-Dum” into the fun, infectious dance track I had imagined from the beginning.
